Employment Services Officer
Job Type: Fixed‑term contract (8 consecutive weeks).
Working Hours:
35 hours per week (in‑person). Rate: $17.60 per hour. This position reports to the Associate Manager.
Job Summary:
We are looking for an energetic and service‑oriented Employment Services Officer to support the Employment Department with client services and employment‑related activities. The successful candidate will assist clients with job searches, applications, resumes, cover letters, mock interviews, and access to employment resources, while also providing basic computer and office equipment support in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Provide assistance and support to the Employment Department and other areas.
- Provide information and orientation on internal and external programs to address client needs.
- Deliver introductory computer and mobile device training sessions (1‑1 or group setting) as required.
- Assist clients with job posting reviews, applications, and online job search.
- Assist with resume and cover letter development and mock interviews.
- Help clients with use of job search materials such as directories, interest inventory assessments, and micro‑credential access.
- Assist clients, when necessary, with office equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participant is supervised by the Associate Manager, Employment Services.
- Participant is introduced to staff and provided with an overview of the agency and the Employment Centre.
- Training includes Health and Safety, Conflict of Interest/Confidentiality, HR Policies, including inclusion and diversity.
- Participant is oriented to program features, equipment, intake and referral processes, available resources, and reporting requirements.
- Participant works with a staff mentor and coach.
- Participant feedback is continually generated to ensure sufficient support.
- Participants receive mandatory WHMIS training and orientation to HR Policies and Procedures.
- Full supervision and a designated senior staff member provide additional support.
- Age 15 to 30 years at the start of employment.
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person protected under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment.
- Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and legally entitled to work in Canada.
- International students are not eligible participants.
