Associated Youth Services of Peel (AYSP) is an accredited, not-for-profit charitable organization, supporting children, youth and families with mental health and/or youth justice issues. Working together with our service partners, using a multi-systems perspective, AYSP provides services that are evidence-based and evidence-informed.

We are currently seeking a Coordinator to join our Diversion team. The Diversion program is intended to divert young people pre-charge (EJM) and post-charge (EJS) away from formal criminal proceedings and into a program of rehabilitation.

Job Type:  Permanent Full-time (one vacancy)

Location:

Hybrid - Head Office in Peel Region

Hours of Work:  35 hours a week (Days & Evenings)

Responsibilities

Provide community-based services mandated by the Youth Criminal Justice Act as an alternate to custody for young people in contact with Youth Court and police

Respond to referrals from Crown Attorney’s office for Extra Judicial Sanctions (EJS) and Peel Regional Police for Extra Judicial Measures (EJM)

Meet with youth and their parents/caregivers in person and/or virtually

Develop new and innovative program sanctions/measures to address the changing needs of the program and clients

Facilitate group and individual programming, as required

Establish and maintain professional alliances with collateral agencies/organizations

Maintain professional documentation, in the form of intake, service plans, discharge summaries and/or case summaries and statistical information

Provide training to volunteers who support client and program needs

Work flexible hours related to the needs of the clients, evening work will be required

Qualifications And Experience

Undergraduate Degree or Community College diploma in a social science or related field

Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and CYFSA, Provincial Offences Act and the Extra Judicial Sanctions/Extra Judicial Measures Model

Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working with youth. Experience working in the Youth Justice sector will be considered an asset

Salary Range
$49,409 - $58,772
