Shipper/Receiver

Wage:  $26.78/h

Schedule:

Full time, Monday to Friday – Afternoon Shift (3:30 pm to 12:00 am)

Responsibilities

Unloading and loading trucks.

Packaging and unpacking all products, components, assembled sections, and preparing orders for shipment.

Operating forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport, and store goods.

Assembling containers and crates, packing goods to be shipped, and preparing identifying information and shipping instructions.

Reviewing orders to determine loading layout on trucks.

Overseeing loading and unloading of goods from trucks.

Planning daily shipments on our truck.

Inspecting and verifying incoming goods against invoices or other documents, recording shortages and rejecting damaged goods.

Determining method of shipment and preparing bills of lading, invoicing and other shipping documents when orders are picked.

Maintaining internal record‑keeping systems.

Calling customers to arrange delivery of orders.

Conducting monthly inventory counts on conduit pipe.

Re‑bundling damaged conduit.

Knowing safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials.

Knowing proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods.

Adhering to all life safety rules, including LOTO, machine guarding, PIT, safety protocols, OHSA and safety policies.

Following all Atkore policies such as Respect and Anti‑Harassment, Workplace Violence, Free Workplace of Drug and Alcohol, etc.

Working overtime hours as business needs require.

Performing other related duties as assigned.

What you will bring

High school Diploma or GED.

Ability to drive a forklift (counterbalance and reach truck) and possession of a valid licence.

Authorized to work in Canada.

Ability to commute to the work location daily.

One to three (1‑3) years of experience as a forklift operator (training will be provided).

One to three (1‑3) years of experience as a Shipper & Receiver in a warehouse or distribution center.

Ability to perform simple math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and measurement.

Excellent organization and time‑management skills.

Capacity to work consistently under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.

Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing and understanding English.

Daily use of hand tools, standing, bending, kneeling and frequent lifting of 50 lbs.

Team player with good communication skills.

Within 3 months, you’ll

Complete any required training.

Develop relationships with key stakeholders for this role.

Be well‑versed in Atkore’s business system and the importance of your role to daily operations.

Within 6 months, you’ll

Understand Atkore’s inventory system used for raw material and finished goods.

Gain increased knowledge about general processes within the facility, how different departments interact, and the workflow within each of them in relation to daily shipments.

Establish working relationships with all department colleagues and management team members.
