Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, GPS or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
• Coach colleagues on current methods or work techniques.
• Demonstrate professionalism in customer service.
• Arrange travel, related itineraries, and make reservations.
• Drive as part of a two‑person team or convoy.
• Load and unload goods.
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Oversee vehicle condition and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
• Perform pre‑trip, en route and post‑trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle operation.
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Tarp cargo and ensure safety and security of goods.
• Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
• Utilise trip recorder (on‑board computer) and maintain travel records.
• Handle cross‑border transportation and extended overnight travel as required.

• AZ Class license
• Air Brake (Z) endorsement
• Driver's License (Class 1 or
  
  A)
• Documentation knowledge (Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Trans‑border documentation, Inspection reports)
• Valid passport and criminal record check
• Driver's validity licence check and driving record check (abstract)
• Drug test and medical exam
