QUALIFICATIONS- In accordance with Mississippi Code S37-9-17, all personnel employed by the public school system shall be required to pass a criminal background check and a current child abuse registry check.
- A satisfactory employment record.
- Associate degree desirable, high school minimum and five years previous experience.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and similar software.
- Must be multi-task oriented with good typing skills and knowledge of filing procedures.
- Must possess excellent telephone and people skills.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of various office equipment including but not limited to calculators, computers and typewriters.
- Excellent math skills a must.
Building Principal, Assistant Principal, and Director of the school to which they are assigned.
JOB GOALTo assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office’s maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assists the Principal, Assistant Principal or Director in general administrative operations.
- Supplies information requested through questionnaires or otherwise to other school systems, teachers, and others.
- Assumes such scheduling, coordinating, and clerical functions as the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Director may assign.
- Prepares and reviews reports as assigned by the Principal. Assistant Principal, or Director.
- Maintains such student records as shall be required.
- Receives and routes all incoming calls.
- Maintains a daily teacher attendance log and the concomitant records for substitute teachers.
- Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials as requested.
- Processes all changes and adjustments in student schedules as directed by the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Director.
- Maintains a log of visitors to the school.
- Reports to the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Director any developments or problems requiring their awareness or action.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

210 or 240 (dependent on placement) days annually with salary in accordance with the Administrative Salary Schedule as approved by the Harrison County School District.
EVALUATIONPerformance of the Secretary will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions in the School Board Policies and Procedures.
