Job Description
Dane Street, a nationally recognized Independent Review Organization (IRO), is expanding its panel of Physician Reviewers. We are currently seeking Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeons (Spine experience preferred) licensed in Mississippi to perform Utilization Reviews.
This is a non-clinical, fully remote role designed to offer supplemental income with complete flexibility. As a Physician Reviewer, you will deliver objective, evidence-based opinions regarding the medical necessity of treatment requests and appeals. This is not a treatment role— no patient contact, no exams, and no doctor-patient relationship is established.
Key Responsibilities:- Review medical records and treatment plans for medical necessity
- Apply state-specific workers’ compensation guidelines and national evidence-based criteria
- Deliver clear, concise, and well-supported determinations
- Complete reviews within assigned time frames (usually 1–5 business days)
- Participate in peer-to-peer discussions when requested (scheduled by Dane Street)
- Update determinations if additional medical records are submitted
- 1099 Independent Contractor status
- Average review time: 15 minutes or less per case
- Flat rate per case – predictable, supplemental income
- Work remotely from anywhere you choose
- Set your own schedule and review volume
- No patient interaction or liability
- Chronologically organized medical records provided
- Intuitive, secure online portal
- Full onboarding and training provided, with ongoing support
- Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery (Spine experience preferred)
- Active, unrestricted medical license in Mississippi
- Experience with Workers’ Compensation cases is a plus
- Must be actively practicing in a clinical setting
