Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from a community college or two years of college coursework (48 hours), or Silver Level on Work Keys.
• Satisfactory completion of district’s pre-employment tests.
• Ability and desire to work well with young children.

Reports To: Principal or designee; under supervision of the classroom teacher.

Supervises: Students as assigned.

Job Summary: Assist in creating a productive classroom environment to support student learning and resource utilization.

Essential Functions:

• Collaborate with the teacher in instructional planning.
• Assist in improving students’ academic skills.
• Support instructional programs and interpret directions for students.
• Help with small group instruction, drills, and make-up work.
• Read to students and monitor classroom behavior.
• Maintain a clean and attractive learning environment.
• Assist with classroom setup and management.
• Participate in professional development and school activities.
• Perform clerical duties as assigned.
• Support a positive school climate and professional interactions.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated according to district policies.
