We are seeking an Elementary School Teacher to join our district and enrich the learning experiences of our students.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Valid Mississippi educator license with the necessary endorsement(s) to be “Highly Qualified” for all assigned MSIS Course/Work Codes.
- Excellent communication skills with parents, students, colleagues, and administrators.
- Additional qualities of academic, professional, and personal excellence as specified by the Board.
Principal and/or Designee
Job GoalsTo demonstrate the district’s beliefs in order to provide an optimum educational experience for each student and to promote the student’s intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Performance Responsibilities- Plan lessons that demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy.
- Plan lessons that meet the diversity of students’ backgrounds, cultures, skills, learning levels, language proficiencies, interests, and special needs.
- Select instructional goals that incorporate higher level learning for all students.
- Plan units of instruction that align with the MS College and Career Readiness standards and/or other curriculum frameworks when applicable.
- Collect and organize data from assessments to provide feedback to students and adjust lessons and instruction as necessary.
- Incorporate assessments into instructional planning that demonstrate high expectations for all students.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of content during instruction.
- Actively engage students in the learning process.
- Use questioning and discussion techniques to promote higher order thinking skills.
- Bring multiple perspectives to the delivery of content.
- Communicate clearly and effectively.
- Integrate and utilize technology in instruction to maximize student learning.
- Adapt teaching for the benefit of students with exceptionalities by collaborating with support specialists and effectively implementing accommodations and modifications as stated in the Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
- Manage classroom space and resources effectively for student learning.
- Create and maintain a climate of safety, respect, and support for all students.
- Maximize time available for instruction.
- Establish and maintain a culture of high expectations for learning.
- Manage student behavior to provide productive learning opportunities for all students. Handle disciplinary issues in a professional manner according to Board policy.
- Establish and articulate goals for student learning, including high school graduation, for all students.
- Engage in continuous professional development and apply new information learned in the classroom.
- Demonstrate high ethical standards; act in alignment with the MS Educator Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, and the district vision, mission, and beliefs.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with families.
- Collaborate with colleagues and be an active member of a professional learning community in the school/district.
- Demonstrate leadership by taking an active role in school improvement.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other functions (i.e. Open House) outside the instructional day for education-related purposes and under reasonable terms.
- Accept responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Refer students who are failing to meet academic or behavioral standards to the Teacher Support Team as required by the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) model. Implement interventions with validity and integrity and report intervention outcomes to the school Interventionist.
- Agree and obligate to successfully meet the State Department of Education requirements for educator licensure and district requirements for areas of endorsement.
- Follow district/school test security plan.
- Maintain confidentiality of all records in accordance with, but not limited to, The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as the Principal and/or Designee may assign from time to time.
