• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Holds a valid Mississippi educator license with the necessary endorsement(s) to be “Highly Qualified” for all assigned MSIS Course/Work Codes.
• Possesses ability to effectively communicate with parents, public, coworkers, and administrators.
• Such other qualifications of academic, professional, and personal excellence as the Board may specify.

Principal and/or Designee

To demonstrate the district’s beliefs in order to provide an optimum educational experience for each student and to promote the student’s intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

• Plans lessons that demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy.
• Plans lessons that meet the diversity of students’ backgrounds, cultures, skills, learning levels, language proficiencies, interests, and special needs.
• Selects instructional goals that incorporate higher level learning for all students.
• Plans units of instruction that align with the MS College and Career Readiness standards and/or other curriculum frameworks when applicable.
• Collects and organizes data from assessments to provide feedback to students and adjusts lessons and instruction as necessary.
• Incorporates assessments into instructional planning that demonstrate high expectations for all students.
• Demonstrates deep knowledge of content during instruction.
• Actively engages students in the learning process.
• Uses questioning and discussion techniques to promote higher order thinking skills.
• Brings multiple perspectives to the delivery of content.
• Communicates clearly and effectively.
• Integrates and utilizes technology in instruction to maximize student learning.
• Adapts teaching for the benefit of students with exceptionalities by collaborating with support specialists and effectively implementing accommodations and modifications as stated in the Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
• Manages classroom space and resources effectively for student learning.
• Creates and maintains a climate of safety, respect, and support for all students.
• Maximizes time available for instruction.
• Establishes and maintains a culture of high expectations for learning.
• Manages student behavior to provide productive learning opportunities for all students. Handles disciplinary issues in a professional manner according to Board policy.
• Establishes and articulates goals for student learning, including high school graduation, for all students.
• Engages in continuous professional development and applies new information learned in the classroom.
• Demonstrates high ethical standards; acts in alignment with the MS Educator Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, and the district vision, mission, and beliefs.
• Establishes and maintains effective communication with families.
• Collaborates with colleagues and is an active member of a professional learning community in the school/district.
• Demonstrates leadership by taking an active role in school improvement.
• Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other functions (i.e. Open House) outside the instructional day for education-related purposes and under reasonable terms.
• Accepts responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
• Refers students who are failing to meet academic or behavioral standards to the Teacher Support Team as required by the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) model. Implements interventions with validity and integrity and reports intervention outcomes to the school Interventionist.
• Agrees and obligates to successfully meet the State Department of Education requirements for educator licensure and district requirements for areas of endorsement.
