Job TitleMathematics Instructor, Learning Resource Center - Perkinston Campus
Job DutiesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintain a 35-hour work week in the Learning Resource Center on a flexible schedule to include day and/or evening hours as assigned by the supervisor.
- Provide instructional assistance in all areas of mathematics and in other related areas as requested with professionalism and uphold college values.
- Provide tutoring to students on an individual basis or in a small group or workshop setting.
- Provide access to students for advising, conferences, and tutorial help.
- Advise students as needed.
- Develop materials that can be used by students in the Learning Resource Center or made available to students via the LRC website or through Canvas.
- Maintain accurate student records and submit reports timely.
- Foster coordination and cooperation between the Learning Resource Center and the faculty from School of Mathematics, Data Sciences, & IT and other various content-related college programs.
- Ensure instructional consistency with college and departmental standards.
- Contribute to college goals, course objectives, and student achievement.
- Adhere to College policies and procedures relative to the operation of the Learning Resource Center.
- Attend faculty/departmental meetings as requested.
- Act as a public representative for the community college.
- Participate in the planning and evaluation of the Learning Resource Center.
- Meet all Employee Development requirements.
- Participate in college governance councils as assigned.
- Serve on academic/instructional committees as assigned.
- Accept the responsibility for other related activities, duties, and schedule as assigned by the supervisor.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the department or administration.

Job DescriptionGENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION :
The Learning Resource Center instructor’s primary responsibility is to provide tutoring services to all students needing assistance in all areas pertaining to mathematics in the Perkinston Campus Learning Resources Center of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. This position reports to the campus Assistant Dean of the Learning Resources Center.
- (M1) Master’s degree with (18) graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- (M2) Ability to teach college-level Mathematics courses.
- (M3) Previous teaching experience.
- (M4) Written and interpersonal communication skills.
- (M5) Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
- (D1) Doctoral degree in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
- (D2) Community college and/or college-level teaching experience.
- (D3) Online teaching experience using learning management systems such as Canvas.
- (D4) Multi-media instructional delivery experience.
