This position will provide counseling and advising services to 9th – 12th grade low income and first generation high school students. The incumbent of this position will assist in monitoring participants’ success, maintain records of counseling/advising sessions, recruit target area participants, provide class schedules for participants, and evaluate participants’ academic progress. The Senior Counselor will also assist in monitoring hallways as participants change classes, and participate in other Upward Bound activities and functions.
Required QualificationsThe applicant must possess a master’s degree in counseling, education, or social work and a minimum of at least two years working with low-income and first-generation students. A vast knowledge of the student financial aid process, adequate knowledge of a rigorous secondary curriculum, facilitation of student-related workshops, and the use of virtual technology equipment are essential. The applicant must be able to work on Saturdays (19) throughout the Academic Year.
PhysicalDemands
The physical demands will include some sitting, walking, and the use of computers for online academic services such as Zoom and Canvas.
