CTE Construction​/Carpentry

Construction/Carpentry Teacher

Job Summary: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their educational potential.

Qualifications: Applicant must have earned a two-year college degree (associate degree) or higher from an accredited institution of higher education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned)

• Work collaboratively to develop CTE pathways in construction technology
• Teaches occupational knowledge and skills in areas such as safety, communication, construction materials, machine processes, fabrication, finishing and career preparation
• Matches activities and materials to individual group skills and needs
• Selects and requisitions required instructional equipment, supplies and materials
• Ensures that materials and equipment are properly used, maintained and stored, and that inventory records are accurate and current
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities, provides appropriate safety instructions and makes safety checks on equipment and work areas to ensure the overall safety of students
• Evaluate each student's growth periodically and develop instructional plans for the future assist the specialists in the instruction of special education students
• Confer with colleagues, administration, students and/or parents when necessary

Preferred Qualities

• Experience in the construction/wood industry
• Experience teaching construction and/or woods at the secondary level
