The RoleCONVERGIX Automation Solutions is a trusted partner in industrial automation, delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges. We’re expanding our team with an Embedded Controls Engineer who will play a critical role in designing and implementing advanced control systems for automotive assembly and battery pack production. This position reports to the Branch Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement embedded control algorithms and software for machine control and data collection systems.
- Develop and integrate PLC programs, embedded software, and system architectures.
- Lead controls projects from concept through commissioning, including scope creation, procurement, and progress monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to introduce new technologies and optimize existing systems.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support model changes and innovation projects within assembly engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience in embedded controls, software engineering, and PLC programming.
- Knowledge of control system architecture and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Control Net, Device Net).
- Ability to read/write SQL and PLC code for production control systems.
- Strong project management skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledgeable regarding automotive industry or manufacturing processes.
- Motivated & passionate about working with people and overcoming challenges through collaboration and a win‑win paradigm.
- Ability to travel; travel is approximately 25% for controls specialists.
- Experience with TOYOPUC or Omron is an asset.
- Familiarity with automotive assembly processes is an asset.
- Ability to travel to Canada is a plus.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required.
- Occasionally lifts or moves up to 25 pounds.
