Georgia-Pacific is seeking an entry level Mechanical Project Engineer for our Leaf River Cellulose Mill in New Augusta, MS. In this role, you will lead and manage mechanical projects, ensuring designs and installations meet industry standards. Your ability to find innovative solutions will bring positive changes to the facility and your experience will be critical in maintaining operational efficiency while driving continuous improvement throughout the production process.

Leaf River Cellulose Mill is a world‑class wood pulp mill in the Georgia-Pacific's Cellulose business. Leaf River produces specialty and market fluff pulp that is delivered worldwide to customers for a variety of high end uses and converting technologies. Our products are used in applications ranging from paper products to diapers and hygiene products, to specialty applications including textiles, pharmaceuticals, food, paints, and plastic molding components.
WhatYou Will Do
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, ensuring project milestones are met.
- Prepare and present detailed project reports to stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Prepare cost estimates and manage project budgets to ensure financial efficiency.
- Work with cross‑functional teams, including civil, electrical, and process engineers, to ensure project success.
- Specify and select appropriate mechanical equipment, ensuring it meets industry standards, safety requirements, and project requirements.
- Liaise with equipment vendors and contractors for procurement and project execution.
- Oversee the testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet performance criteria and comply with safety regulations and standards.
- Identify and resolve mechanical issues during project execution and operations, providing technical assistance, guidance, and training to maintenance and operations teams, while participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant operations and project delivery methods.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering
- Project management experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, government or military environment.
- Experience in pulp and paper industry.
