Responsibilities- Process Development & Optimization – Develop, validate, and continually optimize laser welding processes to meet production and quality requirements.
- Establish, document, and maintain welding parameters, procedures, and standards.
- Perform root cause analysis on welding defects and implement timely, effective corrective actions.
- Automation & Robotics – Program, commission, and troubleshoot FANUC robotics welding cells.
- Design and deploy automated welding and material handling solutions.
- Support PLC‑based control systems and ensure seamless integration with factory automation platforms (Profinet, Siemens, Linux, FANUC, Keyence).
- Quality & Compliance – Ensure welding processes comply with applicable industry standards and customer requirements.
- Partner with quality and production teams to monitor, analyze, and improve weld performance.
- Conduct routine weld audits and support PPAP and customer submission activities.
- Project Management & Technical Support – Lead projects involving new equipment installation, process upgrades, and automation enhancements.
- Support new product launches through weld feasibility studies, tooling development, and process validation.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to develop and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, and standardized work instructions.
- Continuous Improvement – Apply Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements and lead cost‑reduction initiatives focused on welding consumables, cycle time optimization, and scrap reduction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in welding and/or automation within automotive or high‑volume manufacturing.
- Proficiency in robotic programming (FANUC) and PLC troubleshooting (Siemens, Profinet, Linux, Keyence).
- Strong knowledge of weld inspection techniques (visual, destructive, non‑destructive).
- Familiarity with GD&T, AutoCAD/Solid Works, and Microsoft Office tools.
- AWS certification or equivalent is a plus.
