Tuning Specialist - Automotive

Our client, a renowned specialist in high-performance automotive solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Performance Tuning Specialist to join their esteemed workshop in Welkom, Free State . This role demands an expert understanding of engine management systems, ECU calibration, and the intricacies of optimizing vehicle performance for both street and track applications. • Develop and implement custom ECU tuning maps for various vehicle makes and models using specialized software.
• Conduct dyno testing and analysis to measure and verify performance gains, engine parameters, and drivability.
• Troubleshoot engine performance issues and identify root causes for optimization.
• Calibrate engine parameters such as fuel delivery, ignition timing, boost control, and throttle response.
• Work with clients to understand their performance goals and provide tailored tuning solutions.
• Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and regulations in automotive performance tuning.
• Maintain detailed records of tuning procedures, modifications, and performance data.
• Collaborate with mechanics and technicians to ensure hardware modifications are compatible with tuning strategies.
• Ensure all tuning activities are performed safely and responsibly, adhering to environmental and performance standards.
• Provide expert advice and consultation to clients regarding performance upgrades and modifications.

• Proven experience as a Performance Tuning Specialist or an equivalent role with a strong focus on ECU calibration.
• In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engine operation, engine management systems (EMS), and electronic fuel injection (EFI).
• Proficiency with leading tuning software and hardware (e.g., Ecu Tek, HP Tuners, Cobb Access port, standalone ECUs).
• Experience operating and interpreting data from dynamo meters.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Understanding of forced induction systems, camshafts, and other engine modifications.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A valid driver's license is required.
