Infection Preventionist - Woodland Village Nursing Svcs - FT - Days
Job Description
The Quality Assurance / Infection Preventionist is responsible for coordinating between the residents, resident representatives, the medical record, and facility staff to provide quality care and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The QA / Infection Preventionist will collect, analyze and provide infection data and trends to nursing staff and health care practitioners. Consults on infection risk assessment, prevention and control strategies;
provides education and training; and implements evidence-based infection control practices, including those mandated by regulatory and licensing agencies and guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
- Responsible for maintaining infection program and ensuring quality of care
- Make daily rounds to ensure quality of care and refers problems to the appropriate areas for correction (nursing, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, dietary, social services, activities, and administration)
- Responsible for infection prevention education and oversight with staff performance as evidenced by staff return demonstrations for all departments and staff regarding sanitation, contact isolation, universal precautions, hand hygiene, safe needle injections, & etc
- Responsible for antibiotic tracking and trending and oversight of the antibiotic stewardship of the facility
- Collects, analyzes, and provides infection data and trends to nursing staff and health care practitioners
- Completes and maintains all MSDH/CMS required certifications to perform as the Infection Preventionist
- Audit medical records in order to ensure compliance with regulatory concerns and infection prevention protocol
- Assists with quality assurance programs to improve patient care
- Maintains Quality Indicator for facility compliance within Federal (CMS) and State (MSDH) regulations
- Consults on infection risk assessment, prevention and control strategies; provides education and training; and implements evidence-based infection control practices
- Maintain the electronic reporting of facility Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) goals and data collection
- Assist with MDS, Care Plan, and QA meetings
- Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes, and customer satisfaction
- Provides assistance to team members as requested or required
- Maintains regular and timely attendance record
- Participates on committees/councils and performance improvement activities as requested/required
- Successful completion of probation and annual skills/competency requirements
- Practices within legal, ethical and professional boundaries
- Maintains expertise in the area
- Serves as a role model by demonstrating positive team-based behaviors

Required Qualifications:
Education:
Associate degree
Experience:
Three years in clinical experience with documented contribution to infection prevention performance improvement projects in a hospital setting.
