Summary:
Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is actively seeking a caring and energetic Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Collins, MS. This position is full-time and may include weekend work. The Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in providing assistance with daily activities, accompanying consumers on outings in the community, and supporting treatment plans in partnership with clinical staff to enhance the quality of life for those we support.
For 50 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt. Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Mississippi Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record (no moving violations within 3 years)
- Must be able to obtain Class D license within 30 days of hire
- Must maintain auto liability limits of 100,000/300,000/50,000
- Will pass CPR, MANDT, and other required testing
- Experience working with the IDD population preferred
- Experience assisting others with ADLs preferred
Responsibilities:
- Act as a model for appropriate behavior
- May provide transportation to and from facilities and activities in the community
- Perform other work-oriented tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Responsible for training participants in skills and conduct daily activities, training and documentation for IDD day programs
- Eat lunch on site with participants and take breaks on site
- Help individuals learn skills for daily living appropriate to a home environment and use pragmatic training techniques to develop these skills
- Demonstrate the importance of community involvement, social interactions, and maintaining relationships
