Operator Technician role at Westlake
Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain a safe work environment while performing job duties.
- Set up Gaylord boxes and mark tares correctly, ensuring a sufficient number are ready to meet production demands.
- Inspect each Gaylord box and liner prior to filling to ensure it is clean and suitable for use.
- Weigh and package material correctly with neat and legible labels on each package.
- Drive forklift.
- Assist the machine operator on start-up and shut-down.
- Keep a constant watch on vacuum chambers from the station and finished product.
- At coolers, notify the shift supervisor if anything is suspected.
- Handle and store all finished product properly and efficiently, including bulk materials.
- Keep area and tools neat, clean and stored properly.
- Break open, disassemble, clean and reassemble coolers properly; responsible for all cleaning of the coolers on shift.
- Stack all packages neatly, even in temporary storage.
- Be company oriented, willingly completing any tasks assigned by the production foreman.
- Understand and follow all Safety, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 procedures.
- Understand that shift schedules are not set; willingly work the hours assigned with overtime possible.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Score Silver or above on Work Keys test.
- Certified Forklift License and prior forklift experience is preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work on a computer, stand, use hands, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to stand 10 to 12 hours per day. The employee must be legally able to drive a motor vehicle and work around and close to rotating equipment.
The employee frequently walks; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; talks or hears. The employee occasionally sits and climbs or balances. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 55 pounds. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus are required.
Manufacturing environment includes dust, outdoor work, and high noise levels.
