Hood Industries, Inc., a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns, operates plywood, lumber manufacturing plants, and 24 specialty wood product distribution operations across 18 states. Fabricating and distributing in the Northeast, Southeast, and Southwest United States.

The primary purpose of the Spray Line Lead is to oversee the lay‑up and press operations in a plywood manufacturing environment. The Lead coordinates team activities, ensures quality and safety standards, trains operators, monitors productivity, and resolves operational issues to meet production targets.

• Assist in supervising and directing the lay‑up and press team, ensuring all members understand their roles.
• Assign tasks to operators based on production schedules and skill levels.
• Monitor team performance, provide guidance, feedback, and support.
• Oversee the lay‑up process to ensure correct layering, adhesive application, and alignment per product specifications.
• Assist in supervising press operations, adjusting machine settings to achieve desired product quality.
• Ensure efficient workflow by monitoring and coordinating lay‑up and pressing activities.
• Inspect materials and finished products to meet quality standards.
• Identify and address quality issues, collaborating with the quality control department for corrective actions.
• Train team members on quality standards, inspection techniques, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
• Conduct regular skill assessments and provide additional training to improve competency and productivity.
• Enforce safety guidelines and conduct routine safety inspections, maintaining a clean hazard‑free work area.
• Report safety incidents or equipment malfunctions to the Production Supervisor or safety team promptly.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues related to the lay‑up or press machines.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and coordinate repairs as necessary.
• Work with maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance and minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of production, including quantities, quality issues, machine settings, and downtime.
• Report daily production metrics and operational challenges to the Production Supervisor.
• Participate in shift handovers to communicate key information to the incoming shift.

• Minimum 2‑3 years in a Spray Line Lead role, with leadership or supervisory experience.
• Proficient in operating and troubleshooting lay‑up and press machines.
• Strong communication, coordination, and decision‑making skills.
• Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality control and safety compliance.
• Skilled in identifying and resolving issues efficiently to minimize production delays.
• Experience in a factory setting with exposure to noise, adhesives, and machinery.
• Requirement to adhere to strict safety guidelines and PPE.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with wood products.
• Experience operating a forklift.
