Job Description / Responsibilities

Assume the responsibilities and duties designated by the manager. The staff employee is supervised by the manager or assistant manager and performs duties such as safe preparation and handling of food, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities, serving of food, cashiering, record keeping as required, and other related work.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend weights and measures on standardized recipes.
• Ability and willingness to follow instructions, either written or verbal.
• Willingness to work in any situation involving food production.
• Emotional stability and physical fitness to perform duties efficiently.
• Personal standards of appearance and dress code appropriate for food service.
• Interest in food preparation and service.
• Courtsey and tact in dealing with people.
• Interest in children and school programs.
• Desire to perform all duties to the best of ability.
• Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently, move heavy supplies, and stand for extended periods.
• Willingness to learn prescribed food preparation methods.
• Ability to furnish own transportation.
• Jefferson County School District may require a health certificate.
• Must pass a federal fingerprint background check and child abuse registry check.

Reports To

Cafeteria Manager, Director and Assistant Director of Child Nutrition, or Principal.

Performance Responsibilities

• Perform assigned duties efficiently in food preparation, serving, cleaning, and other tasks within the allotted time.
• Attend training meetings as required.
• Report to work on time and stay until dismissed by the manager.
• Notify the manager by 6:00 a.m. if unable to work due to illness.
• Maintain positive relations with colleagues and the community.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and work policies of JCSD.
• Perform duties related to food safety, cleaning, and serving.
• Keep the trash and garbage area clean and sanitary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
