Forest Nature and Conservation Manager – USA
Join Forestry Works as a Forest Nature and Conservation Manager. This full‑time, permanent, on‑site role is located in Monroe, LA;
Washington DC; or Houston, TX (flexible).

What you will be doing- Track science on the development of nature‑positive approaches and support opportunities for deployment within the business.
- Liaison with key federal, state, and provincial agencies, NGOs, First Nations, and other key stakeholders to understand regional needs and inform Nature Positive strategy.
- Lead conservation engagement in the US through enhancement of existing partnerships and establishment of new strategic projects contributing to Nature Positive outcomes.
- Develop metrics and methodologies for monitoring impacts on nature and biodiversity in relevant areas.
- Standardize processes for collecting and reporting data underpinning Nature Positive practice in the US source areas and owned assets.
- Evaluate current fiber sourcing and work with regional sustainability foresters, fiber procurement, and operations to encourage and develop sources that deliver Nature Positive outcomes.
- Develop programs and approaches to deliver Nature Positive outcomes within our sourcing areas (landowner outreach and supplier training).
- Support mitigation actions and certification program needs related to species and ecosystems of concern.
- Support the development of Drax Catchment Area Analyses, identifying potential synergies with development of Group land sector inventory and harmonization where appropriate.
- Support research related to biomass sourcing and effects on biodiversity, soil, and water quality.
- Support External Affairs, Government relations, and internal communications on Nature Positive related communication.
- Support Group‑level sustainability, ESG, and communications reporting related to Nature Positive.
- Excellent numerical skills with proven experience handling large data sets.
- Good communication and team‑working skills.
- Accomplished user of data processing software including Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
- Qualified to degree level.
- Understanding of the Global Goal for Nature and Nature Positive practice as it relates to the forest sector.
- Confident self‑starter with proven ability to manage own workload.
- Post‑graduate qualification in forestry or environmental science.
- Knowledge of working forestry practices.
