Location: Columbus Air Force Base
Duties
* Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of a Security Forces Flight, ensuring that personnel comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
* Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
* Represents the Security Forces Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
* Performs and enforces the full range of police officer duties within the military installation. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This is a drug testing designated position. Incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
* The work requires a valid driver's license and the incumbent must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment.
* Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties.
* This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
* May be required to work other than normal duty hours. Overtime may be required.
* May be required to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, vests, respirator masks, and/or helmets.
* Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations, required physical fitness/physical agility tests including running events, meet established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast, and depth.
* Incumbent must immediately report to his supervisor any significant medical threshold shifts in health status and/or medication requirements.
* Must obtain and maintain first responder training/certifications required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually.
* Must wear a uniform and meet applicable dress and appearance standards.
* Subject to annual duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
* Must pass initial formal law enforcement training school as determined by functional, a certificate from a federally recognized Law Enforcement Academy is preferred.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
* May be exposed to high levels of noise such as aircraft engines. Qualifications (Conditions of Employment continued):
* Incumbent will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties.
* Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques and procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic event, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations.
* The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as running in pursuits or emergency responses, long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities. Employees engage in such exertions when responding to alarms and walking foot patrols in and around buildings. This position may require common physical characteristics and abilities and dexterity and the strength to pursue, and detain uncooperative suspects.
In addition, this position requires the ability to employ "infantry" small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to employ "Active Shooter" response tactics as a member of a small team.
