National Forest Foundation (NFF) is pleased to offer two exempt, full‑time, positions that will be responsible for prospecting, developing competitive proposals, building a portfolio, and stewarding relationships with corporate partners and prospects.
About the NFF:
As the official national partner to the US Forest Service (USFS), the National Forest Foundation was chartered by Congress in 1993. Today, the NFF advances forest resiliency, healthy watersheds and wildlife habitat, and recreation for all by working with communities and organizations across the country. The Foundation has grown significantly in the last few years in programmatic impact, revenue and support, and organizational capacity.
NFF leads with impact, deploying roughly 90% of its expenses toward projects and programs across the country’s 193‑million‑acre National Forest System. NFF is forward‑thinking and innovative, with ambitious strategies and goals to advance and prepare forests for a new economy.
The Associate Officer of Corporate Giving will build relationships and secure funding that drives high‑impact conservation outcomes across National Forests. This position reports to the Associate Director of Corporate Giving and plays a key role within NFF’s Advancement team. Working in tight partnership with Conservation teams and Advancement leadership, this position translates funding needs into compelling proposals aligned with funder expectations.
It also involves the stewardship of partners, including relationship building, report and renewal submissions, and coordinating with other departments within the NFF to meet partnership expectations.
- Understand the landscape of corporate giving, including impact targets, industry trends, giving trends, cause marketing, and reporting.
- Identify, prospect, and secure new corporate partnerships, moving them through the opportunity pipeline according to match‑making opportunities, national prospecting list, and specific “Showcase” funding opportunities.
- Evaluate alignment between opportunities and NFF’s priorities.
- Work with existing partners to grow relationships and renew partnerships.
- Develop high‑quality, competitive proposals, including narratives, budgets, deliverables, and community‑benefit framing.
- Ensure all materials reflect NFF’s commitment to ecological integrity, community partnership, and alignment with U.S. Forest Service mission and expectations.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships based on alignment and mutual goals.
- Serve as a communications bridge between Advancement and Conservation teams in shaping strategies for each opportunity.
- Manage stewardship of awarded grants, including reporting, narrative updates, and donor recognition requirements in collaboration with Finance and Marketing/Communications.
- Represent NFF in meetings, presentations, and site discussions with funders and civic partners.
- Maintain accurate tracking of proposals, deadlines, requirements, and reporting in NFF systems.
- Contribute to improving proposal workflows, templates, and institutional knowledge across regions.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Marketing and Conservation on funding opportunities and project/program‑based opportunities.
- Minimum of three years of experience in institutional fundraising, corporate fundraising, grant writing, or related fields.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex conservation work into strong, funder‑ready narratives.
- Strong understanding of corporate giving and corporate foundations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex proposals and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Familiarity with grant compliance, budget development, and post‑award management.
- Experience with CRM or grant management tools preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
