The Outpatient Licensed Practical Nurse is part of the hemodialysis health care team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role focuses on direct patient care, equipment operation, and patient education while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

• Provide direct patient care for assigned patients during dialysis procedures.
• Perform all technical aspects of dialysis, including monitoring treatments, documenting parameters, and recording patient data.
• Administer intravenous medication in accordance with physician orders and state laws.
• Assist in the development of patient education plans about end‑stage renal disease and dialysis therapy.
• Respond to emergency situations, including initiating CPR and using emergency equipment.
• Operate dialysis equipment safely and troubleshoot minor issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary dialysis treatment area and address blood spills per protocol.
• Attend staff meetings, care plan discussions, and in‑service training.
• Act as a resource for staff, coordinating care with physician, dietitian, and social worker.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN or LVN).
• Current state licensure.
• Completion of a hemodialysis training program and CPR certification.
• Must pass Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment.

• Preferred:
  One year medical‑surgical nursing experience.
• Preferred (but not required):
  Hemodialysis or ICU experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide coverage at multiple facilities during short staff periods.

This position requires heavy lifting of patients and equipment, frequent standing, and prolonged periods of bending. The work environment is a healthcare facility with controlled temperature and moderate noise. Exposure to infectious materials may occur.
