Description:
The Registered Nurse works in a collaborative and cooperative relationship with other members of the healthcare team. The nurse plans and implements patient and family education. The nurse is responsible for assessing the needs and initiating appropriate intervention for patients. The nurse collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation. The nurse analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues.
The nurse identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or their situation. The nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes. The nurse implements the identified plan of care. The nurse employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. The nurse systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. The nurse attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice.
The nurse evaluates their own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines. The nurse interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues. The nurse collaborates with patients, families, and others in the conduct of nursing practice. The nurse integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice. The nurse integrates research findings into practice.
The nurse provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession. The nurse performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. The nurse must demonstrate sound judgment, patience, and maintain a professional demeanor. The nurse should exercise tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintain confidentiality. The nurse must successfully perform essential job functions in a fast-paced environment. The nurse should learn current and new computer applications and office equipment utilized in practice.
The nurse must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. The nurse should analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines. The nurse must embody values of service, integrity, respect, and teamwork. Schedule requirements include regular and sustained attendance. The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-call work may be required to respond to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
Physical requirements include:
Lifting (repeatedly handling up to 50 pounds) Maintaining a sitting posture for extended periods Standing for extended periods with adjustments as needed Walking and moving around within the work area Occasional climbing Twisting, bending, and stooping requiring flexibility Reaching above shoulder level and using upper extremities for pushing/pulling Continuous fine-finger movements for tasks Close visual acuity for data analysis and reading screens and printed materials Cognitive skills to learn new tasks and maintain workflow focus Continuous exposure to blood borne pathogens, radiation from imaging, and various healthcare chemicals.
