Join Game Stop as an Assistant Store Manager. You will support the Store Manager, supervise staff, and develop a sales culture by providing outstanding guest service and driving sales of video games, electronics, and gaming merchandise.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions or concerns courteously, and assist with gaming needs.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual presentation and operational elements.
- Process purchases and returns accurately using the POS system.
- Handle phone calls professionally, escalating issues to the Store Manager when required.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits programs, such as new title reservations, trade‑in, and Pro Rewards.
- Assist the Store Manager in setting service expectations, training associates, and providing performance feedback.
- Ensure all associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before shift responsibilities.
- Schedule staff while maintaining legal and company break guidelines; supervise staffing levels to meet service goals.
- Approve payroll and time‑off requests, ensuring accurate compensation.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandised presentation per company standards.
- Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
- Implement effective inventory control and loss prevention practices, including bank deposit handling.
- Support sales, profit, and shrink targets and complete administrative duties.
- Perform inventory counts, manage stock on shelves, and keep the sales floor organized.
- Reconcile daily business transaction totals, closeout paperwork, and bank deposit slips.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies and report them appropriately.
- Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls swiftly and accurately.
- Maintain guest and associate safety, reporting injuries promptly.
- Keep store records and manuals orderly and up‑to‑date.
- Delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent.
- Adhere to all Game Stop policies, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow opening and closing procedures exactly.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge highly preferred.

- Clear verbal and written communication, bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

- Operate POS computer system proficiently.
- Basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills.
- Complete required paperwork accurately.
- Follow written or oral instructions precisely.
- Execute financial tasks per company policy.
- Flexible schedule: nights, weekends, holidays, at least 3 days per week.
- Manage pressure and adapt to stressful situations while maintaining guest interactions.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and exhibit good judgment.
- Work alone, stand, and move within store up to 12 hours per day.
- Bend, stoop, lift merchandise up to 30 lb.
