Senior Accountant - Sports and Entertainment
Base pay range: $90,000.00/yr - $/yr
Mackie Myers is partnering with a fast growing sports and entertainment business in Orange County to hire a Senior Accountant. This is a high impact role supporting accounting and finance across professional sports teams, live event venues and new business growth areas.
This is not a “keep the lights on” accounting role. This is for someone who enjoys building, improving and getting their hands dirty as the business scales.
The OpportunityYou will sit at the heart of a dynamic, high growth environment supporting multiple revenue streams across sports, events and new commercial ventures. You will work closely with finance leadership and senior stakeholders across the business and will be trusted to own key areas of the close, reporting and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Lead key areas of the month end close including journal entries, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support financial reporting and management accounts across multiple business units
- Partner with operations, sales and venue leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Build and document scalable accounting processes as the business grows
- Support audits and external advisors
- Get involved in ad hoc projects tied to new teams, venues and new revenue lines
- Around 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting or sports, entertainment, media or complex multi entity experience is a plus but not required
- Strong understanding of GAAP and hands on month end close ownership
- Someone who has worked in a building phase environment rather than only large, fully built businesses
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats and solving problems without a playbook
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with stakeholders at all levels
- Systems savvy with an appetite to improve how things are done
