We are an established and growing wholesale wood flooring company with over 20 years in the industry. As we expand our product lines, channels, and geographic footprint, we are looking to bring on a strong, hands‑on accounting professional to replace our current accountant and elevate our financial discipline, reporting, and controls.
This role is ideal for someone who has worked in distribution, manufacturing, or wholesale
, understands inventory‑driven businesses, and is comfortable partnering directly with ownership.
The Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager will own the day‑to‑day accounting function while also providing accurate financial reporting, cash flow visibility, and operational insights to leadership. This is a critical role that bridges bookkeeping, accounting, and financial management.
Key Responsibilities Core Accounting & Financial Management- Own full‑cycle accounting (AP, AR, GL, month‑end close)
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and accruals
- Ensure GAAP compliance and consistent accounting practices
- Manage inventory accounting across multiple SKUs and product lines
- Reconcile inventory valuation and COGS monthly
- Understand landed costs, freight, and vendor pricing
- Work closely with operations to ensure inventory accuracy
- Identify and flag shrinkage, slow‑moving inventory, and margin issues
- Oversee vendor payments and credit terms
- Monitor customer AR, aging reports, and collections
- Support credit management and customer account reviews
- Ensure accurate invoicing and cash application
- Maintain weekly cash flow visibility and forecasting
- Monitor operating expenses and overhead
- Assist CEO with budgeting and financial planning
- Improve internal controls and accounting processes as company scales
- Coordinate with external CPA on tax filings and compliance
- Prepare schedules and documentation for audits or reviews
- Manage sales tax reporting and compliance (multi‑state experience a plus)
- 5+ years of accounting experience (distribution, wholesale, or manufacturing preferred)
- Strong understanding of inventory and cost accounting
- Experience with full‑cycle accounting and month‑end close
- Proficiency with accounting software (Quick Books, Net Suite, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, reconciliations, analysis)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and take ownership
- Experience in flooring, building materials, or related industries
- Prior experience supporting an owner‑led or entrepreneurial business
- Experience working with sales commissions and rep compensation
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or CMA a plus (not required)
- Hands‑on, no‑ego accountant who enjoys being close to the business
