Under the direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Associate Accounting Analyst (AAA) performs the most complex and high-level analytical duties related to the Right of Way program. The AAA analyzes and reviews reconciliations, reports, supporting accounting documents, funds and coding information. The role requires a broad understanding of Caltrans accounting procedures, programs, functions, multiple‑fund types, State and Federal regulations, and accounting & fiscal systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing Excess Land transactions, Expenditure Adjustment, and various types of Right of Way Capital Outlay payments.
- Participating in activities with the Right of Way Program to enhance business process and working relationships with Headquarters and District staff.
- Acting as a year‑end coordinator, performing internal control review and monthly Schedule III Reconciliation.
- Reviewing and signing claim schedules.
- Providing coverage for the section during the supervisor’s absence.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Associate Accounting Analyst exam. Candidates who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or are new to state civil service employment must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
