Position: ACCOUNTING ANALYST
Location: California

Job Summary

Position:
Accounting Analyst (JC-499238) – 1 position, full‑time, permanent, in‑office, San Diego County, California. Salary range $4,256.00 – $6,591.00 per month, paid monthly in four increments. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze a variety of accounting data to support management decisions.
  • Perform Accounts Payable duties, ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments.
  • Perform Accounts Receivable duties, including collections and reconciliations.
  • Process General Ledger transactions and maintain accurate ledger balances.
  • Audit data to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports.
  • Provide expenditure, reimbursement, and revenue estimates and advise management on forecasted expenditures versus budgeted amounts.
  • Identify significant trends, make comparisons to previous accounting periods, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Maintain accounting controls required by the District and oversight agencies.
  • Diagnose accounting and related system problems and resolve issues to ensure accounting objectives are met.
  • Gather year‑end accrual information and analyze accruals for conformance with legal standards and GAAP.
  • Support related accounting tasks as needed.

Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of accounting analyst or professional accounting experience in a governmental or private setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in accounting or finance.
  • Experience with GASB reporting requirements and GAAP.
  • Minimum of one year of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable experience.
  • Ability to provide accurate financial data with supporting documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop solutions‑oriented action plans.
  • Excellent written communication and ability to produce clear, concise reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations and educate staff on policy and procedure.
  • Knowledge of California state accounting principles, practices, and laws.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Strong research, analytical, and mathematical skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and presentation skills.
