Collections Specialist

Location: Earth City

Description We are looking for a Collections Specialist to support a long-term contract opportunity in Earth City, Missouri. This role is ideal for an accounts receivable specialist who can balance billing, cash application, and collection efforts while maintaining strong customer account accuracy. The position requires someone who can work independently, investigate account issues thoroughly, and partner effectively with internal teams to keep receivables moving in the right direction.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily accounts receivable operations by coordinating invoicing, applying incoming payments, and managing collection activity across assigned accounts.

- Review aged receivables regularly and contact customers on overdue balances to encourage prompt payment and reduce outstanding debt.

- Investigate billing variances, short payments, and disputed charges, then drive issues through resolution with the appropriate stakeholders.

- Maintain complete and accurate account documentation to ensure customer records, payment activity, and account status remain current.

- Work closely with cross-functional partners to address account concerns, remove payment obstacles, and improve turnaround times.

- Recommend practical enhancements to receivables procedures and collection methods that strengthen consistency and efficiency.

- Adjust effectively to shifting priorities and evolving workflows as the AR and Collections function continues to develop.

- Take ownership of assigned accounts by applying sound judgment, asking insightful questions, and resolving problems with minimal oversight. Requirements - Experience handling accounts receivable responsibilities, including billing, payment posting, and collections.

- Background in commercial collections, consumer collections, or a combination of both.

- Working knowledge of credit and collection practices, account reconciliation, and past-due account follow-up.

- Ability to identify payment discrepancies, research account issues, and resolve billing disputes accurately.

- Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining precise records.

- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across internal teams and interact professionally with customers.

- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and comfort making independent decisions within established processes.

- Capacity to learn new tools, procedures, and priorities quickly in a changing work environment.
