OverviewThe County of Los Angeles is hiring Intermediate Clerk candidates to help address homelessness, mental health, and substance use. Applicants may be hired for an initial 90‑day period with the opportunity for permanent County employment.
Responsibilities- Process documents, including reports, bills, receipts, and case files.
- Review documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with legal requirements.
- Answer questions and provide information to the public concerning regulations, procedures, and services.
- Maintain records requiring specialized knowledge and judgment.
- Index and cross‑reference records and files; sort, arrange, and file documents.
- Calculate amounts due, collect fees, and issue receipts.
- Option I:
Six months of office clerical experience in the service of Los Angeles County or in districts under the jurisdiction of the County. - Option II:
One year of office clerical experience outside the service of Los Angeles County. - Option III: A certificate or Associate of Arts degree in clerical procedures or office administration from an accredited college or university.
- A valid California Class C driver license or an alternative method of transportation.
- Experience volunteering or working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Fluency in any of the following languages:
Armenian, Cantonese, Farsi, Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, or another. - Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word or closely related programs.
Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with the opportunity for permanent County employment. Applicants who pass the initial performance assessment will be considered for permanent appointment.
