General StatementUnder the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Membership Aide provides clerical support to the University‑Student Union (U‑SU). The Membership Aide is responsible for performing simple routine clerical tasks and projects for the effective operation of the U‑SU Recreation facility.
General Duties and Responsibilities- Provides quality customer service to the University community
- Provides information and referrals about the Recreation facility, the University‑Student Union, and the University to the campus community;
- Greets all guests and directs guests to the appropriate resource;
- Receives and screens walk‑ins and other inquiries;
- Enters member information in facility management software;
- Registers members for group exercise classes;
- Provides information to members about programs, policies, and procedures;
- Assists with projects and events as needed;
- Maintains an awareness of all University‑Student Union and University activities and events;
- Ensures facility is organized and clean;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled Cal State LA student with a minimum of 6 undergraduate units and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0, or graduate student with at least 4 graduate units and a minimum Cal State LA cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0;
- Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff;
- Ability to interact positively and build effective working relationships;
- Willingness to provide effective customer service promptly and courteously;
- Ability to respond to walk‑ins and other inquiries;
- Proficient oral, written, and listening skills;
- Strong organizational skills: the ability to prioritize and complete assigned duties and routine tasks;
- Ability to learn and utilize desktop and web‑based applications and office equipment as needed;
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
A background check/live scan (including a criminal record check) must be completed satisfactorily for an employment offer to remain valid. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or the continued employment of current employees who apply for the position required.
The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
