Under the general supervision of the Graphics & Marketing Director, the Junior Social Media Assistant provides programmatic support to the University-Student Union (U-SU). The Social Media Assistant is responsible for performing varied marketing and communication tasks and projects for the effective operation of the U-SU Graphics department.
General Duties and Responsibilities- Assists in planning and execution of social media strategy through research, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification;
- Develops content for various social platforms consistent with the U-SU brand;
- Optimizes social media platforms to increase the visibility of U-SU departments;
- Assists with maintaining U-SU policies with SMP platforms;
- Attends and participates in scheduled Graphics staff meetings, meetings with supervisor, and
- U-SU training sessions;
- Provides quality customer service to the University community;
- Assists with projects and events, and may assist staff with leading Production Aide on projects;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled Cal State LA student with a minimum of 6 undergraduate units and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0, or graduate student with at least 4 graduate units and a minimum Cal State LA cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0;
- Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff;
- Ability to interact positively and build effective working relationships;
- Willingness to provide effective customer service promptly and courteously;
- Strong organizational skills: the ability to prioritize and complete assigned duties and varied tasks;
- Strong interpersonal and group communication skills in a team environment;
- Must be self-motivated, able to adjust to changing workloads, and have some independent judgment;
- Proficient oral, written, and listening skills;
- Experience using various desktop and web-based applications and office equipment;
- Experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Mac Intosh applications, and printing preferred;
- Knowledgeable and understanding of social media platforms and social analytic tools preferred;
- Customer service experience preferred.
