Job Title:
Information & Reservations Aide
Hourly Rate: $17.87 per hour; non‑exempt classification
Duration:
Academic Year (Fall/Spring) with the possibility of extension
Work Schedule:
Up to 20 hours/week (no more than 999 hours per calendar year). Schedule developed with the Information & Reservations Coordinator
Training Period:
Two months with the possibility of extension
Under the direct supervision of the Information & Reservations Coordinator, the Information & Reservations Aide provides clerical support to the University‑Student Union (U‑SU). The Information & Reservations Aide is responsible for performing simple routine clerical tasks and projects to effectively operate the U‑SU facility.
General Duties and Responsibilities- Provides quality customer service to the University community;
- Provides information and referrals about the University‑Student Union and the University to the campus community;
- Greets all guests and directs guests to the appropriate resource;
- Receives and screens walk‑in and other inquiries;
- Maintains an awareness of all University‑Student Union and University activities and events;
- Assists with event scheduling utilizing reservations software;
- Maintains files of reservations;
- Assists with projects and events as needed;
- Ensures the reception area is organized and clean;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled Cal State LA student with a minimum of 6 undergraduate units and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0, or graduate student with at least 4 graduate units and a minimum Cal State LA cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0;
- Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff;
- Ability to interact positively and build effective working relationships;
- Willingness to provide effective customer service promptly and courteously;
- Ability to respond to walk‑in and other inquiries;
- Proficient oral, written, and listening skills;
- Ability to learn and utilize desktop and web‑based applications and office equipment as needed;
- Strong organizational skills: the ability to prioritize and complete assigned duties and routine tasks;
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
