Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the organizational and intermediate maintenance production and management of all organic vehicle and handheld communications equipment within the AVTB inventory.
  • Execute maintenance workload based on authorized maintenance level, priority, and availability of parts, tools, equipment, and personnel expertise.
  • Ensure proper inventory accountability and maintenance of all communications equipment, tool sets, chests, and kits.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Maintenance Officer on all matters pertaining to communications equipment readiness, tracking, and availability.
  • Track repair parts and liaise with item managers, sources of supply, and commercial vendors to ensure timely receipt of repair parts.
  • Possess a current Secret security clearance to maintain all cryptographic controlled items while acting as the Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) manager with authority over the AVTB communications vault.
  • Install, uninstall, and maintain records of communications equipment in government vehicles and other Commercial Off‑The‑Shelf (COTS) systems. Fill cryptographic keys into electronic encryption devices and load correct frequencies for secure communication.
  • Provide training opportunities to all AVTB members regarding tactical vehicle communications systems.
  • Submit frequency requests in support of training and evaluation (T&E).
  • Possess familiarity with platforms such as AN/VRC‑110, AN/PRC‑153, AN/VRC‑89, AN/PRC‑150, AN/PRC‑117F/G, AN/PRC‑160, AN/VRC‑114, AN/PRC‑160, AN/VRC‑124, and Joint Battle Command – Platform (JBC‑P).
Qualifications
  • Level I (Entry/Junior) – less than 5 years of experience.
  • High school diploma required; BA/BS preferred. 0–5 years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Works under general supervision and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
  • Supports both water and land testing and evaluation of amphibious and ground combat vehicles, including mobility, surf transitions, amphibious shipping, riverine operations, recovery, and towing.
  • Requires an active Secret security clearance.
  • Position is contingent upon award.
