The Provider Market Account Executive is the key relationship owner and point of contact for an assigned portfolio of Provider clients. They are charged with developing and executing on strategic account plans to achieve above market growth in delivering Provider solutions. The Account Executive is accountable for the profitable growth and deployment of the overall Provider portfolio and, where appropriate, will work with team members across Optum Insight, Optum Health, Optum RX and UHC to align on customer plans and priorities.

The role drives growth within the assigned accounts, engages matrixed teams to meet revenue, earnings, growth and client satisfaction objectives, and coordinates with sales, operations, product and technology teams as needed.

This role is strategically aligned to the Southern California territory and travel of 25-50% may be required based on client needs. If located in Southern CA, there is flexibility to work remotely.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build, nurture and grow intimate, consultative relationships with Provider clients to understand their strategy and business needs, and assess the value Optum solutions deliver.
  • Influence matrix teams to develop approaches that increase value and impact for the client.
  • Create value stories aligned with client strategies and present the value of Optum solutions to executives and key influencers, potentially on-site or virtually.
  • Ensure service and delivery commitments to the client are met.
  • Negotiate renewals, contractual agreements, statements of work, and performance guarantees while coordinating with contracting, legal and finance.
  • Drive client savings realization and Optum revenue growth through performance management, renewals, and identifying upsell opportunities in partnership with sales.
  • Develop and present reporting of savings, opportunities and service level agreements.
  • Maintain business process management and timely CRM updates () including client planning, opportunity management, contacts, and current solution footprint.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders across Optum to ensure customer centricity, high NPS, renewal rates, and alignment with customer needs and feedback for current and future products.
  • Influence external customers at VP & C-Suite levels as a trusted executive partner.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in a strategic, leadership, consultant, or related healthcare role with responsibility for KPIs/metrics and growth.
  • 3+ years of experience working with stakeholders and business leaders to drive outcomes.
  • Experience in building deep, productive relationships with external clients and with internal C-suite and matrixed teams.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare market, specifically the provider segment.
  • Willing and able to travel 25-50% based on business need.
  • Currently resides in the Southern California regional area.
  • Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience working with clinical leaders.
  • Direct experience collaborating with product and technology teams.
  • Experience supporting Optum Markets (Payers, Employers, Providers, Government, Emerging Markets) and experience across UHG, Optum and UHC.
  • Experience across Analytics, Care Continuum Delivery, ITO and Revenue Cycle services for Providers.
  • Servant leadership, resilience, facilitation, and change management capabilities, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex market opportunities and develop creative solutions, along with solid strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with ability to build credibility with clients and internal partners.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. In addition to salary, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contributions are available (subject to eligibility). The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $160,000 annually for full-time employment, with eligibility for bonuses based on sales performance, and compliance with minimum wage laws as applicable.
