National Business Development Manager

Location: O'Fallon, MO

SAK Construction has an opportunity for someone to fill a key role as National Business Development Manager. This role has strategic responsibility for developing relationships at the highest levels with federal, state, and municipal agencies, engineering firms and industry partners. Additional responsibilities include leading targeted client business development initiatives by working closely with regional business development leaders, area managers, and regional vice presidents on specific customer strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Overall responsibility to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they relate to business development.
  • Provides executive leadership team and regional leadership with recommendations related to organizational growth initiatives impacting business development efforts.
  • Leads alternative delivery pursuits and provides guidance and recommendations to regional leadership and business development staff on strategy and partnering/teaming decisions.
  • Assists as needed with proposals, bids, and generating market intelligence for capturing and analyzing strategic market or client information.
  • Participate in national trade shows, professional organizations (DBIA, etc.) and industry events as requested by VP of Business Development and regional leadership.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and coaching of regional teams as it relates to business development relationships including regional, state and local levels.
  • Contributes to the development of high-level relationships with customers, engineering firms and potential customers.
  • Contributes to and assists with efforts to identify, develop and close opportunities for business.
  • Serves as an internal consultant to VP of Business Development and various departments upon request to enhance all business development-related concerns.
  • Responsible for creating departmental budgets as requested.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field required, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in Business Development or Sales.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in forging and maintaining business relationships.
  • 10+ years of experience in negotiating contracts and leading strategic pursuits.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM Systems.
  • 10+ years of experience working in construction industry or similar high‑paced environment.
