As Head of Video, California Post, you will spearhead the multi‑platform news video operation, leading the creation of cutting‑edge news video, ensuring timely coverage, developing repeatable, popular formats and vodcasts across multiple platforms, and growing social audiences while delivering vital digital video news content.

Responsibilities- Develop and execute a comprehensive digital video news strategy aligned with the company’s vision for audience growth, brand relevance, and revenue diversification.
- Create and experiment with new video formats that engage diverse audiences across You Tube, Tik Tok, Instagram, and other platforms.
- Work with editorial leadership to ensure rapid breaking‑news storytelling.
- Approach exclusives with a video‑first methodology, breaking stories across platforms seamlessly.
- Use data analytics and audience insights to shape content, optimize performance, and increase engagement and loyalty.
- Oversee multi‑platform storytelling that integrates seamlessly across platforms, creating a unified brand narrative.
- Apply video optimization strategies to You Tube, Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, etc., and produce compelling storytelling that hooks users.
- Identify and cultivate revenue opportunities through video partnerships, sponsor ships, and branded content collaborations.
- Build and mentor a cross‑functional team of producers, editors, and content creators.
- Liaise with senior newsroom stakeholders and business units to inform strategy and champion video transformation.
- Manage talent relations, train and polish on‑camera talent and newsroom editors, and develop new franchises with outside talent.
- Visionary leader with a track record of driving innovation in digital video content creation and distribution.
- Audience and data obsessed, using insights to tailor compelling content.
- Deep production expertise across studio and field environments, fluent in metadata, thumbnails, smart play listing, and syndication.
- Business savvy, comfortable managing budgets and developing revenue strategies.
- Player‑coach mentality and strong writing/producing track record.
- Excellent communication and team‑player skills.
- Strong news judgment and adherence to journalistic values.
- 10+ years of professional experience leading digital video strategy in a newsroom.
- Familiarity with CMS (Word Press, JW, Frame.io), analytics tools (Parse.ly), Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere), and live‑streaming platforms (Restream, You Tube Studio, OBS).
- Strong understanding of brand marketing and alignment of video strategy with business objectives.
- Deep understanding of newsroom operations and translation to visual storytelling.
- Strong editorial judgment balancing speed, accuracy, and creativity.
- Exceptional organizational and leadership skills for large teams under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Familiarity with California preferred.
