We collaborate closely with retail partners to create products informed by real‑time selling, customer behavior, and market timing—balancing trend, volume, and margin with the agility to respond quickly. This blend of retail insight and elevated design ensures our product doesn’t just inspire, but performs in the market.
Role OverviewWe are seeking an Apparel Designer to design and develop trend‑driven, brand‑right products from concept through production. This role partners closely with Sales, Merchandising, Product Development, Technical Design, and Production to deliver commercially successful collections across multiple categories—including knits, wovens, outerwear, and active
—for major retail partners.
This position is ideal for a designer with strong creative instincts and technical expertise who is excited to grow into a Designer Lead role. Following an initial onboarding and evaluation period, you’ll progressively take ownership of one or more categories, gaining increased responsibility, visibility, and influence across line strategy, cross‑functional collaboration, and retail‑driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop seasonal products aligned with market trends and the SYM brand vision, from concept through production
- Translate trend research, selling data, and retail feedback into clear, commercially viable product direction
- Conduct trend research through competitive shopping, trade shows, trend services, and global inspiration sources
- Support seasonal color palettes, fabrications, and trim direction in partnership with Sales, Merchandising, Product Development, and Sourcing teams
- Create and maintain detailed flats, CADs, tech packs, and design documentation using Adobe Illustrator and freehand sketching as needed
- Collaborate closely with Technical Design, Pattern making, and in‑house sample makers to execute design direction, fit, and construction intent
- Attend fittings and clearly communicate fit intent, construction details, and overall design vision
- Partner with Merchandising and Technical Design to support cost engineering and achieve target margins and retail
- Collaborate with Sales and Merchandising on product concepts and line strategy
- Manage design calendars, meet deadlines, and proactively flag development risks or timing challenges
- A strong designer with a commercial yet trendy, retail‑driven mindset
- Confident owning product categories while collaborating across teams
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive
- Knowledgeable in construction, fit, trims, patterns, and fabrications
- Motivated to grow into a leadership role over time
- Energized by fast‑paced, quick‑turn design environments
- 5–7+ years of experience designing women’s apparel
- Strong expertise in garment construction and creative use of trims and fabrications
