Role Overview

We are seeking an Apparel Design Assistant / Associate Designer to support our design team with daily execution, sample coordination, and development support. This role is designed to accommodate candidates at either the Assistant or Associate level
, depending on experience.

You’ll work closely with Designers and cross‑functional partners to help bring SYM collections to life—from early development through final samples—while building the skills and exposure needed to grow within a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support designers with sample coordination, development tracking, and follow‑ups
  • Manage fabric and trim sample orders, purchase orders, and status updates
  • Coordinate local send‑outs related to sample making, including trims and printing
  • Partner closely with the in‑house sample room to support line development
  • Maintain, organize, and take ownership of internal fabric, trim, pattern, and sample libraries
  • Tag, photograph, and organize samples and line images for internal reference
  • Support style‑out sample preparation and shipment tracking
  • Collaborate with merchandising assistants to build trend reports and visually compelling presentation packets for internal and external meetings
  • Assist with additional design tasks, drop‑offs, and pick‑ups as needed

Associate‑level candidates may take on additional ownership in development, trend support, and design execution.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of garment construction and fabrics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email; as well as Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Strong organizational and follow‑up skills
  • Clear communicator with a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to work full‑time, on‑site in Los Angeles
Education & Experience
  • Internship, assistant, or early associate experience in fashion is a plus
