Dental Assistant Certificate, X-Ray, Infection Control and CPR/BLS - Education/Degrees: HS Diploma or equivalent, Dental Assistant Certificate
- Years of experience:
Minimum 6 months of experience - Knowledge of specific issues related to Oral Health Education for children, adolescents, pregnant women, and chronic medical conditions such as HIV, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and Cancers
- Must be very outgoing, have a positive attitude and self-motivated, love talking to people, and must love working with children
The Oral Health Team Community Educator Dental Assistant is responsible for explaining the benefits of good oral health along with potential care options to patients and their families as well as for handling basic patient marketing activities for the Dental Department at various company and non-company sites. The assistant will start and end their day at assigned location in LA County within a 15 mile radius.
In the event travel is required between offices, the assistant is reimbursed mileage between clinics (not for the initial clinic of the day).
Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 1 Saturday per month. If you are booked to work a Saturday, you will have 1 weekday off. Times: 7:45am to 5:00 PM.
Location:
Multisite Float within South LA County (Vermont, Lynwood, Bellflower, downtown Los Angeles, CA, and occasional Health and Wellness Events within 15 miles).
Pay rate: $21.00 to $24.00 per hour (Depending on years of experience and knowledge).
Responsibilities- This is a team made up of a dental assistant and a dentist that go to medical sites that do not have a dental clinic and they provide oral health screenings, oral health education and topical fluoride to patients and refer to one of our Dental Home Clinics.
- Prepare and deliver oral health presentations, along with potential care options, explaining the benefits of good oral health to patients and their families at various sites.
- Set up and coordinate all aspects of Health Fairs and other community outreach activities.
- Maintain marketing and educational materials, communicate basic oral health instruction and provide giveaways (educational flyers, Oral Hygiene bags, etc.) to patients.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Dental Director.
- Schedule and confirm appointments and perform reminder calls.
- Verify insurance eligibility and perform financial screenings.
