Job Summary
In this role, you will supervise dental students and/or residents in patient care activities at the College of Dental, with a primary role in The Dental Center. You will collaborate with clinic administration to ensure an efficient, humanistic, and patient-centered clinic operation providing high quality care to patients. Additionally, you will educate students according to the standards of the College of Dental Medicine ( CDM ) and provide direct treatment to patients in a broad range of general dentistry services as required for operational success.

- Recognized knowledge and experience in a broad range of general dentistry diagnostic and treatment services.
- Ability to communicate effectively to both individuals and groups in writing and orally.
- Ability to interact in an effective and positive manner with individuals of diverse backgrounds,
- including administration, faculty, residents, students, staff, patients, and outside contacts.
- Ability to effectively conduct detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities in an academic environment.
- Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery ( DDS ) or Doctor of Dental Medicine ( DMD ) or equivalent.
- Licensure: Must hold an active California dental license or be eligible to obtain licensure or a faculty special permit in the state of California.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching:
- Supervise, assist, and teach students and/or residents in diagnosis, treatment planning, and care delivery of all phases of general dentistry including digital dentistry, removable prosthodontics, endodontics, surgical extractions, and treatment of medically complex patients.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for students and/or residents, providing feedback on individual performance and resources for improvement as appropriate.
- Maintain calibration with and set an example for students and/or residents by following CDM clinical and administrative protocols and procedures.
- Assist with the implementation of an efficient, patient-centered dental practice that supports the educational mission and financial objectives of the College.
- Maintain intellectual integrity and strive for academic excellence.
- Set an example of professional and humanistic behavior.
- Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Participate in relevant professional development activities and maintain continuing education as needed for licensure.
- Utilize evidence-based or scientifically founded information and pedagogical techniques while fulfilling assigned teaching and clinical supervision duties.
- Participate in presentation or publication of creative scholarly activity where appropriate and where the opportunity exists.
Research:
- Participate as appropriate and as time permits in research projects, studies, and surveys which are conducted in accordance with University and College research plans and objectives.
Clinical/Professional Practice:
