Job Title: Director of Design – Architecture

Location: Orange County, CA

Our client, a top OC architecture firm, is seeking a Director of Design to lead and oversee the creative vision of one of their Architectural Studios in their Orange County office. This role focuses on driving innovative, high‑quality designs across a range of large, world‑class, award‑winning projects.

NOTE: FLEXIBLE CANDIDATE CRITERIA: Candidates with experience as a Junior or Senior Director are encouraged to apply. We are also open to highly experienced Senior Designers who demonstrate the potential and ambition to grow into this leadership role, with compensation aligned to their experience and career progression.

• Provide creative leadership and establish the design vision for key projects, ensuring excellence in aesthetics, functionality, and innovation.
• Lead and mentor design teams, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
• Oversee design processes from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with client goals and project requirements.
• Build and strengthen client relationships by presenting design concepts and guiding them through the design process.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate design and technical execution seamlessly.
• Promote sustainable and forward‑thinking design principles to deliver cutting‑edge solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with local regulations, codes, and permitting processes while meeting the highest quality standards.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in architectural design, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.
• A portfolio showcasing exceptional design work across various project types.
• Strong proficiency in software tools like AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design platforms.
• Proven ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with a client‑focused mindset.
• Comprehensive knowledge of design principles, construction processes, and industry trends.
