Overview
We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Physicians to join our County Health team. The current vacancies are for one (1) full-time Pediatrician at the Santa Maria Health Center in Santa Maria; one (1) full-time Women’s Health Physician at the Santa Maria Health Center in Santa Maria; and one (1) part-time (0.9 FTE) Internal Medicine Physician at the Santa Barbara Health Care Center in Santa Barbara.
The County classification title is Staff Physician. We are also accepting applications to establish one employment list for future Full-Time, Part-Time, Extra Help, and 1414 vacancies for the Staff Physician job classification in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Carpinteria, and Lompoc. This list may be used to fill future vacancies in the Behavioral Wellness Department (BWELL).
Note: Civil Service Rule 1414 applies for appointment to fill vacancy during leave of absence and may allow transition to a regular position depending on performance and department needs.

Position responsibilities:
- Provide clinical diagnosis and treatment as a licensed physician for County Health patients; perform history, physical examination, tests interpretation, procedures, referrals, and overall case management; perform related administrative duties in support of clinic and program operations.
- Maintain medical records, perform billing and coding, countersign charts as required.
- Maintain credentials and appointments; supervise midlevel staff in the absence of a Senior Physician when requested; participate in clinical leadership and committees as assigned.
- Serve as County Health Emergency Responder for health-related emergencies and perform related duties as assigned.
Ideal candidate qualifications:
- Clinical Expertise: California Medical license and DEA; board certification or eligibility in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, or related specialty.
- Case management: Experience with outpatient care, testing coordination, referrals, and follow-up.
- Leadership & collaboration: Ability to lead clinically and supervise staff in the absence of a senior physician.
- Adaptability: Willingness to respond to public health emergencies and standby call coverage as needed.
- Cultural competence: Ability to treat patients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds with empathy and professionalism.

Department of Behavioral Wellness (BWELL):
Provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support services with a focus on prevention, recovery, and cultural competency. Visit the BWELL site for more information.
