The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is recruiting for Behavioral Health Physician III who function as Clinic Medical Directors, lead physicians who assume medical responsibility for adult and/or child and adolescent patients under their direct care and supervision in outpatient clinics.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations (MSEs) of adult and/or child and adolescent patients.
- Develop and implement individualized mental health treatment plans and provide competent psychotropic medication treatment and other psychiatric treatments to meet the needs of assigned patients.
- Lead subordinate psychiatrists in assigned clinics or oversee lower-level professional and paraprofessional staff (e.g., clinical therapists, nurse practitioners, and case managers); assign and review work, train staff, provide feedback, assist with performance evaluations, participate in hiring, and assist with disciplinary actions.
- Perform related tasks as required.
- Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine. - Residency:
Completion of a psychiatry residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME); a certificate of completion must be submitted with the application. - License:
Valid Physician and Surgeon's certificate issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California; indicate number and expiration date on the supplemental questionnaire. - Certification:
Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate; copy must be submitted with the application. - Experience:
One year of full-time experience in a lead capacity as a licensed psychiatrist within a public or private behavioral health or healthcare organization.
