The California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) nursing program is a magnet center for nursing education, emphasizing inclusive excellence, evidence‑based practice, and community partnership. Position SummaryCSUCI seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing to develop and teach pre‑ and post‑licensure courses, guide clinical instruction, and participate in curriculum and accreditation activities. The role involves teaching, scholarly activity, service to the department, university, and community, and leadership in nursing education.
Minimum Degree Requirements- Earned doctoral degree in nursing or a closely related field (ABD acceptable if nursing degree completed by December 1, 2025).
- Eligibility for a California RN license.
- One year of experience teaching psychiatric nursing or a supervised practice teaching course.
- One year of continuous full‑time RN patient‑care experience within the last three years, or eligibility for BRN approval in psychiatric/mental health nursing.
- Demonstrated ability to engage a diverse student population and provide mentorship that supports academic success.
- Proficiency in multiple teaching modalities.
- Experience teaching psychiatric nursing and at least one additional specialty (e.g., community health, obstetrics, pediatrics).
- Familiarity with CCNE or BRN accreditation processes.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills; willingness to teach during summer and evening sessions.
- Plan, develop, and teach pre‑licensure and post‑licensure nursing courses in classroom, clinical, and simulation settings.
- Advise students, maintain accurate academic and clinical records, and coordinate clinical placements with faculty and clinical partners.
- Participate in curriculum development, accreditation, and institutional governance.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, conference presentations, and publications related to nursing.
- Provide service to the department, university, and broader community through committee work and outreach.
