Coastside Children's Programs Master Teacher/Asst. Site Supervisor

Coastside Children’s Programs is seeking a Master Teacher /Asst. Site Supervisor for our Montara School Age Program.

Educational Requirements

This person is expected to have completed 24 units ECE/CD including core courses plus 16 GE units, 6 specialization units and 2 adult supervision units. S/he is also expected to have 350 days (3+ hours per day within 4 years) of experience. Must hold or be eligible to apply for, at minimum a Master Teacher Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Position

Summary

Master Teachers assist the Site Supervisor in maintaining a high-quality childcare program that serves all types of families. When the Site Supervisor is unavailable the Master Teacher assumes responsibility of the day to day operations of their site. They will promote a positive and professional atmosphere and provide mentorship and leadership to staff and volunteers as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintains and implements an appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environment for children ages 2.5-5 or 5-12 years old
  • Develops developmentally appropriate curriculum and schedule for children
  • Aide the Site Supervisor in the curriculum planning process by helping to provide curriculum mentorship as needed
  • Provide mentorship to Classroom Aides, Associate Teachers, and Teachers
  • Supervises and directly interacts with children in a warm and positive manner
  • Always uses respect and sensitivity when communicating with children verbally and non-verbally
  • Ensures that classroom supplies are available and in good repair
  • Implements conflict management and problem-solving strategies with children
  • Implements food service according to established nutritional and food handling guidelines
  • Assesses individual and group needs and provides appropriate experience
  • Follows agency policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Implements emergency procedures as required
  • Helps maintain a safe and healthy indoor and outdoor environment
  • Shared janitorial responsibilities
  • Works with Families and Community
  • Implements the philosophy of the program; knowledgeable and able to speak confidently to parents and prospective parents about the philosophy of the program
  • Communicates enthusiastically and actively develops positive relationships with parents
  • Assists Site Supervisor in a range of activities that promote family involvement
  • Works in a team atmosphere to prepare for parent conferences
  • Invites and encourages family participation in children’s activities
Administration and Management
  • Assists Site Supervisor in minor administrative tasks as needed (data entry to DRDP online, setting up sign in sheets, checking sign in sheets, posting information, etc)
  • Responsible to maintain center operations when the Site Supervisor is unavailable, including but not limited to contacting families, emergency procedures, reporting accidents, picking up mail and deliveries at Admin, know where all licensing information is for an annual visit
  • Maintain inventory of classroom supplies directly informs Site Supervisor of needed supplies and equipment
  • Participates in evaluation and supervision activities
  • Familiar with all licensing requirements, ensures that all procedures are followed to meet or exceed these minimums
  • Understands developmental assessment process
  • Follows agency personnel policies
  • Works cooperatively with other staff, accepts supervision, and helps promote a positive atmosphere in the center
  • Participates in on-site and off-site learning opportunities in accordance with a professional development plan
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all personal information about children and families
  • Maintains confidential relations with center staff
  • Does not drink hot beverages around children/parents (coffee, etc.)
  • No use of cell phones
Health, Safety and Nutrition
  • Follows universal health precautions
  • Follows center/agency policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Comfortable and able to maintain well managed classroom with a Preschool 1:8 teacher/child ratio or School Age 1:14 teacher/child ratio
  • Administers medications in compliance with the agency policies and guidelines
