Salary RangeA reasonable estimate for an initial appointment is $70,977. See Unit 18 Lecturer table for the salary range for this position. These are academic year appointments and subject to the normal processes of academic review. Salary is prorated in accordance with instructional workload calculation.

The School of Natural Sciences anticipates hiring full and part‑time lecturer positions to teach the following subjects in AY :
- Introduction to Earth Systems Science
- Sustainability Science
- Ecosystems of California
- Weather, Climate and Environment
- Ecology
- Other courses as needed
In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor will be evaluating student work and exams, calculating and posting grades, and holding regular posted office hours each week.
This is a limited‑term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Appointments for AY 2025/2026 and/or Fall 2025 semester are reviewed in April, and for Spring 2026 semester are reviewed in October. The posting will remain open through February 2026 to accommodate upcoming course needs and new applicants.

QualificationsAdvanced degree in Environmental Systems Sciences or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level is required.
